Biography

MARIA MARGARITA ALVINA-ACOSTA, PhD, is an Associate Professor and the current chairperson of the Department of Communication.  She received the President’s Award for Teaching Excellence in the senior category in 2008 in Miriam College. Her areas of specialization are Child and Family studies, Gender and Communication, and Communication Research.

Outside of the Academe, Acosta actively takes part in several professional organizations, namely: as the Country Representative (Luzon) of the Asian Media Information and Communication Center (AMIC), Secretary of the Board of Trustees in the Philippines Communication Society (PCS) and a member of the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE).
