The leading media and communication journal in the Philippines is now indexed in Elsevier’s Scopus, as well as in Clarivate Analytics’ (formerly Thomson Reuters’) Web of Science and the ASEAN Citation Index. Plaridel: A Philippine Journal of Communication, Media, and Society is indexed in Scopus beginning with its 2018 volume. Plaridel articles can now be searched in one of the biggest databases of peer reviewed journals. This development is in line with Plaridel’s goal of becoming a significant venue for publication of original communication and media research in Asia. Earlier in 2016, Plaridel was also counted as one of the initial five Philippine journals included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) of Clarivate Analytics. The ESCI is a growing database, initiated in 2015, and is part of the Web of Science databases. A year later, in 2017, the journal was accepted for indexing by the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI). The ACI is a regional database that indexes bibliographic records and citations of high quality researches from scholarly journals from ASEAN member countries. Plaridel was first published in 2004 with College of Mass Communication, University of the Philippine Diliman (UPCMC), Dean Dr. Nicanor G. Tiongson as its first Editor-in-Chief. Since then it has been edited by Dr. Rolando B. Tolentino and Dr. Elena E. Pernia. Journal operations are managed by the Office of Research and Publication of the UPCMC, currently directed by managing editor Patrick F. Campos, who has also served as special issue editor for the journal. Now on its fifteenth year, Plaridel continues to publish original researches on media and communication studies. All articles since 2004 can be viewed and downloaded for free at www.plarideljournal.org.
